Who doesn’t love the taste of a hot cross bun on Good Friday? The spice-filled treat is amazing and fits into our 80:20 plan if you just can’t resist. But just in case you wanted to save your treat for some other easter goodies, here is a pretty ‘sweet’ alternative. They may be missing the cross but we figure the cross is replaced by a tick of approval ( see what we did there- you’ve got to love a dad joke, right?)…
Hot Cross Bun Protein Balls
Ingredients
½ cup ground almonds
2 scoops BN Tasteless Protein Powder
½ cup rolled oats
½ cup dessicated coconut
1 ½ teaspoon mixed spice
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ cup sultanas
¼ cup orange juice
2 tablespoon coconut oil
Directions
Put all the dry ingredients (minus fruit) into food processor. Process until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Continue to process while slowly adding in wet ingredients and fruit.
The mixture will come together into a bliss ball-like texture.
Roll into balls and refrigerate until firm. Roll in cinnamon/powdered sweetener mix for added decoration.
